How to Think Positive Every Day

Many of us may have heard of the importance of positivity but few can really tell why it’s important. There are ways to make every day positive and happy irrespective of any ups and downs we may face. Ups and down can’t be avoided, but what you can avoid is the negative effect they have on your being. Below we propose you 3 ways to be positive and happy everyday irrespective of your situation.

Do one small thing every day that makes you feel good.

Doing what we enjoy boosts our happiness levels, which is why it’s important to make the time for activities we like to do. Depending on your personality, it could be a solitary activity or something fun you like to do with a partner or friend. Make time to practice it every day. [1]

Focus on the good things, however small

Almost invariably, you’re going to encounter obstacles throughout the day, there’s no such thing as a perfect day. When you encounter such a challenge, focus on the benefits, no matter how slight or unimportant they seem. For example, if you get stuck in traffic, think about how you now have time to listen to the rest of your favorite podcast. If the store is out of the food you want to prepare, think about the thrill of trying something new. [2]


Waking up the body is different for everyone. Some bodies and minds wake up more quickly than others, but a great way to enter the present is with an intention to meditate. If thoughts are running amok, try to clear your mind. Slowly roll out of bed and sit on a pillow, back against the wall and spend time (at the beginning 2 – 5 minutes) sitting quietly. [3]

Positive thinking helps us to be healthier, more productive and ultimately happier. Yet for most of us it is hard to practice optimism on a regular basis.
